09/06/2011

Attached is a copy of the summer 2011 school newsletter.

It reports on the ‘Listening to You’ survey launched earlier in the year, school organising, the Education Bill, pensions and more. Things to note are:

  • There is a request to let us know (education@unison.org.uk) about schools/authorities which are paying the £250 low pay lump sum.
  • Notice of a survey on school crossing patrol services.

Local stories and pictures from schools and letters are welcome for future editions.

Letter to Primary schools re Academy status

The joint education unions have written a letter to chairs of governors at all primary schools in England. This letter sets out the dangers, particularly for primary schools, of converting to academy status. The letter is attached and is also available, along with other anti-academy campaign materials, from the UNISON website at http://www.unison.org.uk/education/defendyourschool/pages_view.asp?did=11413
